Forgiven and Forgiving (John 8:1-11)Brian Boucek, September 9, 2018
Part of the series, preached at a Sunday Evening service
God calls us to life change, and enables us to life change. "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." (Eph 4:32)
We are forgiven: "neither do I condemn you"...Jesus died in our place, giving him the authority to forgive our sins. God gives us this forgiveness freely, because he loves us.
We are forgiving: Because we are forgiven, we must also be forgiving. We are all in the same sinful boat together--no stone-throwing is allowed. The Holy Spirit enables to get past our hypocrisy and show grace to others, just as God does to us. Be polite and accepting of others. Don't push them away.
Challenge: Ask God to show you someone who needs to know God's forgiveness. Then go to them and tell them that God loves them.
