Spiritual Disciplines: Prayer (Luke 11:1)Pastor Tim Holwerda, March 3, 2019
Part of the Spiritual Disciplines series, preached at a Sunday Morning service
It is freeing to realize that prayer is something to be learned. We can experiment, try and fail and try again. A casual jogger doesn't just go out an run a marathon. Jesus invites us into His life of powerful prayer.
Four characteristics of remember: prayer must be...
1. Scheduled - have a plan, be intentional.
2. Placed - setting apart a place helps to set apart the activity of prayer; limit distractions; etc.
3. Learned - understanding is necessary; it is okay to experiment and practice, because it will get better with time and learning; our Lord teaches us.
4. Born of relationship - it is a conversation between us and our Father God; he calls us to call on Him.
